Kent Junior Chess Association

Please see below for a recent chess report from KJCA:

SATURDAY 7th November

Ianto Jones, Hector Huser and Raphael Kalid were part of the 12 players who represented Kent U12s and Rosemead school at the tournament below:

THE NATIONAL YOUTH CHESS ASSOCIATION

UNDER 16 and UNDER 12 CHAMPIONSHIPS

SATURDAY, 7th NOVEMBER 2009

at ABRAHAM DARBY ACADEMY, IRONBRIDGE ROAD,

MADELEY, TELFORD, SHROPSHIRE, TF7 5HX

It was a very long journey for the boys and parents. We left a location in SE London by coach at 5:30am so we could get to the venue before 10:30am for the first round. It was a hard and well fought competition over 4 rounds of good quality chess. Although we had a younger team, we came home with the well deserved and unexpected third place. All our boys performed very well.

SUNDAY 8th November

On Sunday, The kent players were back in front of a chess board at Eltham college taking part in our 2nd home tournament of the season (GP2)

There were five of our Rosemead chess players: Hector Huser and Raphael Kalid playing in the U14s tournament, Ianto Jones playing in the U12s, Angharad Jones playing in the U10s and Edith Huser playing in the U8s. They all performed very well. Raphael won the U14 section and Edith received a trophy for the best U8s girl.

Well done to all our Rosemead players!!

On the primary school competition we came 2nd to Eltham College junior school.

It would certainly be great to see more players from Rosemead playing in our Kent GPs!

Yesterday we commemorated Remembrance Day at Rosemead. Our School Officers: Freddie, Cameron, Alana and Amber performed a small service in front of the Elmcourt building, where we have a plaque commemorating those who lost their lives in the Great War (1914-1918).

We also had two minutes' silence which the children at TPR observed at 11.00am.

It was wonderful to see so many visitors on Saturday's Open Day. Huge thanks to everyone involved for making it such a successful day: to the ushers, the dancers, the singers, the sports teams, the musicians, those providing refreshments including manning the French Cafe, the governors, the staff and, of course, all the visitors.

If you missed this wonderful day and would like to visit Rosemead, we have one remaining Open Morning this term:

Wednesday, 2nd December, 9.00am – 11.00am

Do come and join us!

A reminder to all current and prospective parents that we have our Open Day today (Saturday). It provides a marvellous opportunity to see the 'inner workings' of Rosemead.

You will see demonstrations of Sport, Dance and Music.

Children will usher all visitors around the school during the day and will provide our visitors with their perspective on the school.

For prospective parents, what better way to find out if Rosemead is the school for your child?

Remember, our Open Day is being held on:

Saturday, 7th November, 9.30am -12.30pm

Do come and join us.
