Student Council News

Rosemead's Got Talent
This morning we had a super 'Rosemead's Got Talent'! We had around 30 'talents' in this Student Council event, which was compered by Hector and Raphael, with Isabel R. working well as the event photographer and Freddie P. organsing music.
Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Holmes, Phoebe K. and Amber had the difficult task of judging the wide variety of talent on show. We had artwork, instrument playing, singing, dancing, comedy and magic. We also had children from years 2 to 6 taking part. The audience clearly thoroughly enjoyed being entertained. The names of the victors will be announced next week. Hold onto your hats!

Assemblies For The Term Ahead - Update
22 Apr 2010 5:31PM
Dear Parents,
As I posted last week, during the term ahead, we would like to invite parents to come to speak to the children at TPR about their job/profession. The reason we are doing this is to make the children aware of the whole host of professions they could enter when they have completed their education, and to make sure their horizons are broad when they ultimately make the decision of which path to take.
We would like parents to speak about their job in general terms as well as speaking more specifically about how and where their work takes place. The time set for talks is Thursday mornings, commencing at 9.00am. The talks should last for no more than 15 minutes, as they will take place during our assembly times.
We would be very grateful for volunteers for the dates below:
Thursday 29th April - Translating/Interpreting (Ms. Abella)
Thursday 6th May - Environmental consultancy (Ms. Jones)
Thursday 13th May - Project Management (Mr. Broadbent)
Thursday 27th May - new date added!
***
Thursday 10th June - Law (Mrs. Couper and Mr. Hewitt)
Thursday 17th June - still available
As you can see, we have only two remaining available dates, so please do respond as soon as you are able. Please either drop a note in at the office for my attention or email me. Amongst you, there is such a variety of professions, and wouldn't it be super to pass on some of that knowledge and experience to the children!
With many thanks,
Mrs. Sherwood

Chess successes over Easter
Our chess players have had a busy time with many successes.
Tournament of Young Talents
Raphael K represented England in the Young Talents Tournament which is a 9 day U12 tournament held in the Czech Republic over the Easter break. There were over 10 countries represented and it is considered to be one of the strongest open junior tournaments in Europe. Raphael did exceptionally well in finishing third with a score of 6.5 out of 9 and no losses!
National Squad Championships
Raphael K and Hector H both played in the National Squad Championships which is a 3 day U12 tournament held in Wolverhampton. There were 54 competitors and both Raphael and Hector did exceptionally well in scoring 3.5 out of 6 and finishing joint 14th.
U11s Girls Inter-County National Championships
Both Angharad J and Edith H represented Kent in the U11s Girls Inter-County National Championships held in Barnet last weekend. Kent did exceptionally well in winning the national championships for the second year in a row. Angharad did tremendously well in winning all of her games.
