RSA News - Summer Fair
21 May 2010 10:22AM
The summer fair is only 3 weeks away, and our annual raffle will be drawn at the fair, on 12th June. Books of raffle tickets have been given to each child this week. Our top prizes have all been donated by Rosemead parents - a big thank you to them!
Our top prize is a portrait of you or your children by nursery Mum Sophy Bristol (check out her website - www.sophybristol.com). Second prize is a gorgeous Smythson 'Erica' bag. Or you might win an iPod, a case of real ale, London Eye flights, vouchers for Boden, Pizza Express, Jo Partridge or Beamish & McGlue, a sumptuous Mulberry washbag, tickets to the Unicorn theatre, a therapeutic back message - and more!
Half of the proceeds will go towards buying more interactive whiteboards for the school, with the other half going to the charity JET (which pays for chidren who have suffered harm to go to independent schools or state boarding schools). So do please try to buy and/or sell as many tickets as you can! (And for anyone who is feeling really keen, you can get more books of tickets from the school office.) Everyone who buys/sells a whole book of tickets gets a voucher to use at the Lucky Dip stall at the fair.

Dulwich Music Festival
We were very pleased to be part of Dulwich Music Festival once again this year.
Our performers, The Electric Fusion Band and, making their debut at the festival, The 'Cello Group, performed magnificently in what was an absolute showcase of young talent in Dulwich.
The finale was the ever popular Kingsdale Percussion Group, which was stunning. If you ever get an opportunity to hear it, it is certainly worth it!

Music Week
We have various activites planned, including the Practiceathon! which, of course, has already started, Early Years percussion workshops, music staff recitals, including music staff orchestra, lots of performing and listening, and Elmcourt will have the opportunity to hear all the music groups from TPR.
On Tuesday, there will be a 'busking' day for the older children. It would be lovely if the year 2-6 children could bring a few pennies to go in the hats!
All money raised will go to the Clic Sargent Cancer Care which runs the Practiceathon!

Inter-House Swimming Gala
19 May 2010 7:30AM

On Tuesday, years 3-6 went to Crystal Palace for the inter-house swimming gala. It was an exciting morning with races in the main pool and small pool. After a lot of hard work from all the swimmers, Lancaster managed to win the competition and I was very proud to accept the cup as Lancaster House Captain. Well done to all the swimmers but particularly to Lancaster! There was some brilliant swimming.
We couldn’t have had so much fun without Miss King and a very big thank you to her for organising the event. I would also like to thank all the helpers at the pool and, of course, the parents who came to support us.
Well done Lancaster!

RSA News - Quiz Night
18 May 2010 7:10AM

The annual RSA parents' quiz night was successfully held on Friday 14th May 2010. Six teams competed for an array of dazzling prizes. They admirably tackled the challenging questions set by the uncompromising quiz masters.
The half time interval included a fish supper with fun and games but ultimately the top three teams came within 1.5 points of each other in a nail biting finale, with the lead changing hands several times in the last rounds. The eventual winners, Les Know it Alls, brilliantly played their joker to win by a single point.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves whilst learning interesting facts such as Mother Theresa's real name, the inscription on the £2 coin and how it is best not to play your joker on the music round!
The RSA is very grateful to Mr Robinson for helping with setting up and locking up at the end of the night and to the school for making the facilities available. We are already looking forward to next year's quiz.

Medical News
14 May 2010 3:37PM
Dear Parents,
I would like to inform you that several children in Year 3 have contracted chickenpox.
If anyone is dropping off/picking up siblings of children infected with chickenpox, please could they ensure the infected child does not come into the playground or in contact with other families in the school. This is so we can avoid cross infection where possible. Thank you very much for your co-operation in this matter.
If you have any concerns at all, do not hesitate to contact me, on
020 8 655 9553.
Yours sincerely,
Sally Butler
