Parent Assemblies
10 Jun 2010 7:29PM

Today we had our penultimate parent assembly of this term at TPR. Mrs. Couper and Mr. Hewitt can to speak to the children about law. The children learnt about civil and criminal law and considered how laws affect their daily lives.
Last week, Dr. and Dr. Eberhard spoke to the children about medicine and, at the end, when they asked the children if any were thinking about becoming doctors when they are older, a huge number of children raised their hands.
We have also had Mr. Broadbent speaking to the children about project management and Ms. Jones speaking about environmental consultancy, both of when received a great response from the children.
Then, right at the start of term, Ms. Abella started the season of 'Professions' assemblies with a super talk on translating and interpreting.
Next week we have our final parent assembly of this academic year, with Ms. Fisher talking to the children about photography. We are very much looking forward to learning about this profession too.
Huge thanks, once again, to all the parents who have offered their time and expertise. We have received so many positive responses to these assemblies from children, staff and parents.
We very much hope to continue these assemblies next summer term, so please consider whether you might like to come to TPR to talk to the children. It is so important that they are aware of a whole range of professions, so that their eyes are open when the time ultimately comes for them to make their own decisions. I am sure that there will be some children entering all of the above professions as a result of what they have heard on Thursday mornings this term. Isn't that a wonderful thought!
Mufti Day - Tomorrow (Friday)
10 Jun 2010 4:26PM
This is a reminder that it is mufti day (non-uniform day) tomorrow (Friday) at both EC and TPR. Children should bring a bottle or chocolate donation for the Summer Fair, which is being held on Saturday (12.30 - 3.30pm) at TPR.
(It's a great opportunity to wear your England football kit!)
Also, if you have some time available, all donations for the cake stall and/or Caribbean food stall are very welcome. These stalls are always so popular, we need your talents!
Cross Channel Challenge - This Weekend
10 Jun 2010 4:13PM

Pulling Together to make a difference!
Mr. Witherell, Mr. Saunders and Mr. Whall, fathers of children at Rosemead, are all taking part in an amazing competition this weekend, in which two teams will be rowing across the English Channel in Competition, in an attempt to set a world record and raise money for charity! The following detail has been taken from the press release for this challenge.
Teams AHOY Buoys and Risky Business are now counting down the weeks until the big event in June, they are training hard for the row from Dover to Calais, expecting tough winds, choppy seas and strong currents, a world away from their usual haunt, rowing on the River Thames.
This inspirational idea is to give 14 exceptionally devoted volunteers the opportunity to be pushed to their limits and to raise funds to make a difference for The AHOY Centre.
The AHOY Centre is a charity based in Deptford, South East London; which uses the experience of sailing and rowing to break down many of the barriers and divides that exist within today's society, bringing together people from different walks of life and backgrounds. Through the activities and courses at AHOY, people are taught and trained not only how to sail or row, but also about helping others. The activities are available to all; but have a particular focus on young, disadvantaged and people with disabilities. AHOY is a Charity Changing People’s Lives Through Sailing.
They are still looking for sponsors for this event. If you would like to support them in this very worthwhile event, please go to www.justgiving.com/AHOYBuoys
You can also keep up to date with all the latest training information by clicking here.
We look forward to hearing how Mr. Witherell, Mr. Saunders, Mr. Whall and their team get on and wish them the best of luck with their challenge.
RSA News - Camping Weekend
10 Jun 2010 1:23PM
Many families participated in the RSA camping weekend before half term. We have received photographs of the event from Ms. Fisher, one of the parents who attended, and have uploaded a few below for you to see. ow, we also have some words from a couple of the children who attended...

What a venue...

What a view...

What a slide!
I went on the camping trip and my favourite thing was at night. When it got dark we had to use lanterns or it would be tricky to see.
There was a tap to get water from and the girls and boys had water fights. There was a bonfire and they lit it! So we all got marshmallows and toasted them. Also, there was a slanted roof and everyone slid down it. Liliana (Year 3)
I went on the camping trip with my best friend, Liliana, on Saturday. My favourite thing was the night, when we had marshmallows and we went on the climbing frame. In the day we had a water fight - I got wet... I loved it! Lili (Year 3)
