Rosemead Chess Successes
Our Rosemead children continue to excel in chess successes at local, national and international levels.
KJCA Final Grand Prix
Last Sunday was the eighth and final Kent Junior Chess Association Grand Prix event of a season long competition which commenced in September. With four of the best tournament results and the final event counting towards an overall score our children were all in contention for winning titles in what is the strongest county in the UK.
Final results were:
U8s : Edith H (yr 3) finished 8th overall and won the top girl prize
U10s : Angharad J (yr 5) finished 7th overall
U11s : Raphael K (yr 6) finished 1st overall; Hector H (yr 6) finished 3rd overall; Ianto J (yr 6) finished 5th overall
Well done to all our children who achieved excellent results.
England
Both Raphael K and Hector H played for England SE U11s team against Wales two weeks ago. Raphael played on board 1 and won and drew his games and Hector played on board 5 and won both his games. The team (consisting of 12 boards) won convincingly.
On Saturday week both Raphael K and Hector H will be representing England U11s against Holland in Liverpool. Towards the end of the summer both Raphael K and Hector H will be travelling to Belgium as part of the England U11s team to play against Flanders U12s.
Anyone interested in playing in a KJCA tournament or would like to work towards the possibility of representing Kent at national level should contact Thierry on thierry.huser@kjca.org.
RSA News - Summer Fair
24 Jun 2010 10:28AM
We All Did It!
We set ourselves the huge target of raising enough money for a third interactive whiteboard at the Summer Fair this year and we're delighted to report that with everyone's good will and hard work - WE DID IT!
Not only that, but through your generosity we have also managed to raise £900 through the raffle to support the wonderful work that JET does with children not as fortunate as ours.
We will be going over the figures (and thanking people too) in much more detail at our final RSA meeting this term which is at TPR on Tuesday 29th June from 7:30pm. We plan to have a presentation from School about the 'safe IT' information which our children learn at school and how we can support the same messages at home. We will also have some refreshments available (come at 7:00 and catch up with everyone), we will be discussing plans for next year and have a very exciting new venture to launch on the night.
Thank you all once more, and please do try to come to the informative meeting next week.
Sports Day
22 Jun 2010 8:31AM

On Wednesday 16th June, Rosemead went down to the Dulwich sports field to have an exciting, fun-filled day of sports. The sun shone and the blue sky was with us all day. Everyone threw their hardest, jumped their highest, ran their fastest and shouted their loudest. We even saw the competitive side of the teachers in their staff tug-of-war! After all the cheering and persevering from everyone, Lancaster were the overall winners and I, as Lancaster's house captain, proudly took the cup on behalf of the team. Well done, Lancaster!
I know I speak on behalf of all the children when I say thank you to Dulwich for letting us use the field, thank you to the parents for coming and supporting us and thank you to the staff for making it happen and run so smoothly.
