Easter Ski Trip

Update: The booking form for the 2012 ski trip is now available.

At the end of the spring term, we have our week long annual ski trip. This year, for the first time, we are delighted to announce that we will be visiting Crans-Montana in Switzerland.

Crans-Montana ski area is almost entirely south-facing, with one of the best 360-degree panoramic views of the Alps, including Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. It includes the Plaine Morte glacier at 3,000m, down to village level at 1,500m. This is generally high enough to retain good snow conditions and cold enough for snow cannons to create artificial snow when needed.

The resort includes wide open runs, significant off-piste, and scenic tree-lined routes from 2,000m down to the base stations. All in all, there is plenty to offer beginners and even the most experienced skiers.

The Easter ski trip is unusual at Rosemead, as it is open to families, rather than individual children. By organising the trip in this way, families are able to share in this wonderful, fun holiday, and the children are able to learn to ski in the company of their school friends. The trip is organised by a number of volunteer parents who have children at the school. It is organised to include coach travel, although some families choose to make their own arrangements to travel by air.

Once at Crans-Montana, families will unpack before being given their skis, poles and ski passes. These will be fitted by staff from the ski company, who will remain at the hotel throughout the week.

There will be an event organised each evening and, in the past, these have included torch-lit walks, ice-skating, bingo and a disco. One night off will be organised for the parents, as well as for the school and ski company staff.

If you have never skied before and want to learn, knowing that your children are also learning at their pace, there is no better place to go – and at the end of the day, you are in the company of friends. Could there be anything better!
