Easter Ski Trip

At the end of the spring term, we have our week long annual ski trip. In recent years, this trip has been to Arosa in Switzerland.

Rosemead children on the slopes

The Easter ski trip is unusual at Rosemead, as it is open to families, rather than individual children. By organising the trip in this way, families are able to share in this wonderful, fun holiday, and the children are able to learn to ski in the company of their school friends.

The trip is organised by a number of volunteer parents who have children at the school. It is organised to include coach travel, although some families choose to make their own arrangements to travel by air. For both those who travel by road and by air, the last leg of the journey to Arosa is made by rail from Chur, which is a world famous rail journey, and quite spectacular!

Once at Arosa, families unpack before being given their skis, poles and ski passes. These are fitted by staff from the ski company, who remain at the hotel throughout the week, and are always willing to oblige.

There is an event organised each evening, and in the past, these have included torch-lit walks, ice-skating, bingo and a disco. One night off is organised for the parents, as well as for the school and ski company staff.

If you have never skied before and want to learn, knowing that your children are also learning at their pace, there is no better place to go — and at the end of the day, you are in the company of friends. Could there be anything better!
