Good afternoon,

Welcome back to a new year and a new term. The children settled back into the rhythm of the school day fairly quickly, I hope that you did too. Our Year 6 children have been busy with examinations and interviews – not long to go! Highlights of this short week are:

House Captains and Librarians: The new Junior House Captains for the spring term were announced. They are:

Blyton – Darcie
Forester – Henry
Shackleton – Diya
Shelton – Seb
Librarians: 2E – Cayden and Lexie; 2W – Sarah and Silas

Congratulations to these children.

House Points: This week Blyton gained 5 house points, Forester gained 1 house point, Shackleton gained 3 house points and Shelton gained 2 house points. Congratulations Blyton.

Years 4-6 Swimming Gala at St. Dunstan’s College: On Thursday some of our boys and girls from swim squad attended a swimming gala at St. Dunstan’s College. Ralphie was acting captain for the day and in his squad were: Cian, Emilie, Emre, Hennie, Jasmine, Maggie, Posy, Max H, Olly D M, Ronnie, Scarlett, Shay, Tayah, Yasmin.

Cian, Olly and Yasmin won their races, and the Years 4 and 5 teams both won their medley relays. Overall our swimmers performed and behaved exceptionally well. An excellent start back into the new term.

Music Groups: There are places available in Musicianship which meets on Friday 8.30-9.00 taken by Mr Kadumukasa. This is an essential group for children taking music examinations as it improves aural and sight reading, both of which are incorporated into any music examination. However, this group is open to any child wishing to improve these skills and it is done through games and enjoyable activities whilst developing these important skills. Please email Mrs Holmes if you would like your child to be part of this group. There are also a few places available for Music Science Technology – creating, recording and mixing music.

Individual Music Lessons: Please can all parents whose children have an individual music lesson, sign and send back the Terms and Conditions sheet that was attached to the invoice sent out by the music staff (there are two copies, one for you to keep).

Saturday 12th January: Getting around Dulwich – towards a healthier, safer and more active future. The meeting’s aim is to discuss how to move forward and make our area a better place to live. Local MP Helen Hayes, Southwark Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport Management, and Air Quality, Richard Livingstone, plus Village Ward Councillors and an expert on the health effects of traffic related air pollution will be speaking.
Location: Methodist Hall, Half Moon Lane
Time: 2.30pm

Sunday 27th January: Winter tree walk at Sydenham Hill Wood: A London Wildlife Trust guided walk identifying winter trees.
