There was a peak of seasonal excitement with the arrival of Wednesday. Not only was it Christmas Jumper Day, but also the day Santa came to Rosemead. I am pleased to report that all the children were exceptionally well behaved and Santa assures me that they all deserve to be rewarded this year! The Pre-Prep were especially fortunate as Santa decided to stay for Christmas lunch with them too!
Other highlights of the week are:
NEWS FROM PRE-PREP
Year 1 visit to Uplands Care Home: After a rendition of Away in a Manger it was a pleasure to see the Year 1 children interacting with the residents of Uplands Care Home on Monday afternoon. They also asked lots of lovely questions, such as ‘what was your favourite toy/ food/game when you were little?’ They were interested to find out that not much has changed in that department. The residents of Uplands Care Home all had big smile on their faces after our visit!
Puppet Show: On Wednesday all the children in the Pre-prep enjoyed an hour of storytelling and puppetry. They sang a number of traditional songs. It really got them in the Christmas mood!
The Inn-Spectors: On Thursday the children of Years 1 and 2 entertained their assembled audience of parents and grandparents magnificently. It was a wonderful (topical) re-telling of the Christmas story. Congratulations to all the children for their singing and acting. Thank you to the KS1 team and Mrs Holmes for helping the children to prepare for the show, and a ‘Special Mention’ to Mr Soutar for directing the entire performance – whilst also playing the role of the donkey!
House Points: This week Blyton gained 3 house points, Forester gained 5 house points, Shackleton gained 2 house points and Shelton gained 1 house point. Congratulations Forester.
NEWS FROM PREP
Prep Carol Service: Our traditional Carol Concert concluded the term; a wonderful way for the children to head off with their families for the Christmas break. The singing was beautiful and the orchestra was in fine tune. We thank Mrs Holmes and her team of music teachers for assisting in making this key event in the Rosemead calendar so special.
The co-curricular programme is available to view via the parent intranet. The booking forms will be live from 10 o’clock on 4th January.
Christmas Fair: Thank you to the RSA for organising our fair last Saturday and raising an amazing £3300! We are especially grateful to Rachel and Deepa and the small army of class reps for their work setting up stalls, manning them and the mammoth tidy up; it was a marvelous team effort. Congratulation also to the Year 6 children for their upcycling stall which raised £149.79 for the Stroke Association.
Christmas Jumper Day: Thank you everyone for your generosity – we raised £227.85 this year for Save the Children.
May you have a wonderful time over the festive period.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you all.
With my best wishes,
