Good afternoon,

This week we celebrated European Day of Languages. Each class participated in activities from a chosen European language, including a story and the children very much enjoyed creating Languages Trees. Good luck to all the children who have entered, or intend to enter, the European Day of Languages T-shirt competition.

Other highlights of the week are:

House Points: This week Blyton gained 2 house points, Forester gained 5 house points, Shackleton gained 3 house points and Shelton gained 1 house point. Congratulations Forester.

Under 9 Football v Blackheath: Before the wet weather hit London this week, the Under 9 football squad were able to participate in a match against Blackheath Prep. The Purple team worked incredibly hard to gain a creditable 1-1 draw in a very tense encounter. Affan gave the team the lead with a fine strike in the first half which was fully deserved. Blackheath came out stronger in the second half and scored an early equaliser. Luka in goal was outstanding to keep Rosemead in the game and give the team a chance of snatching a later winner. Unfortunately, we could not quite convert our chances and the game ended 1-1 which was a very fair representation of the game. Josh was our player of the match for his tireless efforts in midfield, seemingly being everywhere at once!

In a contrasting match, the White team fell behind quickly with Blackheath scoring 3 early goals. The team showed tremendous determination and resilience however to come back and lead 4-3 by half time with Albie scoring all 4 goals with some great dribbling and assists by Arthur down the wing. This amazing comeback gave the side greater confidence in the second half and were by far the superior side with Albie adding a further 2 goals to take his tally to 6 and complete a ‘double hat-trick’! James in goal made some terrific late saves to keep Blackheath out and give the Whites a 6-3 win. Not surprisingly, Albie was our player of the match for his extraordinary 6 goals! A brilliant first outing for the Year 4 football team this term.

Purple Team: Affan, Elijah, Eliot, Josh, Kyran, Luka, Seb

White Team: Albie. Alex, Arthur, Charlie, Gabriel, James, Veeraj

Under 10 Netball v Eaton House: Earlier this week the Year 5 netball teams played a friendly home match against Eaton House. Despite a major downpour just before they left it did not dampen any enthusiasm and all the girls lost their nervousness and got off to a flying start.

The A team scored 2 goals in quick succession which immediately gave the team confidence to win the first quarter. Eaton House came out fighting in the second quarter to level the score at half time. Changing up the teams at half time to give players an opportunity to try different positions proved to the girls that they needed to stick to their plan and really cement strengths. A goal in the second half was not enough to secure a win but a 3-4 loss is nothing to be disappointed about.  We observed some fantastic defending and lots of interceptions by Amber, Millie and also Jackie who took home a very well-deserved player of the match.

The B team came together really well with the girls growing in confidence as the game progressed. Although there were only 2 goals, the team were able to bring the ball down court for opportunities – so shooting practice is on the agenda! Congratulations to Emily for a well-deserved player of the match and playing centre for the entire game – she kept her energy up throughout which is not an easy task!

A team: Amber, Jackie, Millie, Morgan, Sienna, Tania, Vanessa

B team: Alice, Annika, Anya, Cristina, Emily S, Isabella, Posy
