Good afternoon,

The theme this week has been teamwork. The children have focused on the importance of working together and noticing the benefit of individuals coming together. Highlights of the week are:

Reception and Years 1-2 visit Parade Mews Pottery: This week three groups have visited the Parade Mews Pottery in Tulse Hill. On Monday some of Reception had a fantastic first visit. The children made wonderful rockets from clay. They are very excited about seeing their finished creations when they have been fired and returned to school. The second group are really looking forward to their visit to the pottery next Monday. On Monday afternoon it was the turn of 1A and on Friday afternoon, 2W. Both year groups learnt how to fix pieces of clay effectively using cross-hatching and slip. The finished models were truly amazing.

House Points: This week Blyton gained 3 house points, Forester gained 1 house point, Shackleton gained 2 house points and Shelton gained 5 house points. Congratulations Shelton.

Years 3-4 Swimming Gala: On Thursday our young Swim Squad did not let us down. Swimming against St. Dunstan’s College in their pool was a great experience for all these young swimmers.

In the individual races Daphne took first place, Grace and Banks also won in their races.

Rosemead won most of the relay races:

Parissa, Freyja, Bella and Banks won the Year 3 Medley relay.
Ada, Grace, Daphne and Chelsy won the Year 4 Medley relay.
Joshua, Scarlett and Joel won the Year 4 front crawl.

For some of the children this was their first gala and they were initially nervous, but after the first race they felt the ‘buzz’ and said: “It was actually fun!”

Congratulations to all the children and thank you to Mr Pad who said it was a pleasure to take the children to the event. They tried their hardest and were a credit to Rosemead.

Congratulations: James, 4B has been selected to take part in the Under 10 Kent County training squad for tennis. This is an amazing achievement and something that James is really looking forward to participating in.

Have a lovely weekend.

With my best wishes,

Lesley Kastoryano
